Before You Can Train - AFH
Before you can train your own staff in your AFH, you must:
- Review and make sure you meet the state rules for AFH training requirements.
- Verify and document that your instructor(s) meet the minimum qualifications (PDF Format).
- Decide whether to use the DSHS curriculum or an alternative curriculum (Word Format).
Note: The DSHS curriculum for basic training is called Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving (RFOC). The DSHS curriculum for modified basic training is called Modified Fundamentals of Caregiving (MFOC). - Notify DSHS of your intent to train.
After you begin training, you must:
- Ensure that the full curriculum is taught and current DSHS competency tests are used.
- Give a DSHS approved training certificate to students who successfully pass the course. Learn more about training certificate requirements.
- Do all outlined reporting and recording tasks.
