AGING AND LONG-TERM SUPPORT ADMINISTRATION
Approval for Testing Process
If a candidate trained in WA State or another state and it's been over 1 year:
The student will need to retake a nursing assistant training program. You must test within 1 year from the date of your certificate of completion from the nursing assistant training.
If a candidate trained in "another state" and it's been less than 1 year:
Fax or mail Certificate of Completion / training certificate to the Nursing Assistant Registry with their mailing address, phone number and the breakdown of clinical and classroom hours. If they don't have this information on the certificate then they could request this information in a form of a letter and have instructor sign it.
If you are a nursing student:
Please fax or mail the transcripts with grades for approval. Nursing students may be able to sit for the exam if they have successfully completed classes that qualify them to test within one year.
If a nursing assistant certified has not worked as a caregiver in the past 24 months and desires to work in a nursing home, they will need to retrain and retest.
If a nursing assistant certification is not renewed with DOH in 3 years, they will need to retrain and retest.
