REGION 1 SPRING MDS TRAINING

Dear Nursing Facility/Home Administrator:

This letter contains important information for facility staff responsible for completing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments. Residential Care Services will be providing two separate MDS training courses this spring.

The first series will be two days in length and cover basic MDS coding, “The ABC’s of MDS”, and will be presented twice this spring. The target audience for this session is staff new to the MDS process or those who have not attended any MDS training sessions or those needing a refresher. The course covers such topics as MDS assessment types, MDS item coding and significant change of status.

Dates: Thursday and Friday, March 27 & 28, 2008
Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 & 29, 2008
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: RCS Headquarters, Blake East Building
4500 10th Ave SE, Lacey, Rose Room

Attendees are encouraged to bring their RAI manuals to the above session.

The second series of MDS training is a one-day session entitled, “Restorative Nursing and the MDS”.

Date: Friday, April 11, 2008
Time: 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
Location: Sacred Heart Medical Center
