MDS TRAINING—REGION 1
Dear Nursing Facility/Home Administrator:
This letter contains important information for facility staff responsible for completing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments.
Residential Care Services will be providing a 2-day MDS training session this fall, The ABC’s of MDS. The target audience for this session is staff new to the MDS process or those who have not attended any MDS training sessions or those needing a refresher. The course is basic in nature covering MDS assessment types, MDS coding and significant change of status.
There will also be a one-day training sessions on RAPS and Care Planning in November. This is a repeat of the course provided in the Spring of 2007.
The training sessions are scheduled as follows:

Date: Wednesday and Thursday, October 10 and 11, 2007
Hours: 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Children’s Administration Building

Date: Thursday, November 29, 2007
Hours: 9:00 am to 3:30 p.m.
Location: RCS Headquarters, Blake East

All Sessions:
- The trainings are free of charge.
- You must pre-register as space is limited at all sites for all classes.
- Registration will begin ½ hr prior to listed starting time.
- Parking is available on the street or in the Rockpointe DSHS lot across the street. Parking at the Blake East building is free in the adjacent lot, but a visitor parking pass is required and can be obtained upon registration.
- No food or beverages will be provided.
- A certificate of attendance will be presented at the conclusion of the session.
- A map to the location is enclosed and also accessible on the ADSA website. Do not use an internet driving direction program such as Map Quest, to find the Blake East location. It is not in the system.
