Accidents and supervision guidance

Dear Nursing Facility/Home Administrator:

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has revised guidance for long-term care surveyors regarding Accidents and Supervision. Two of the F tags have been combined into one F tag number (F tag 323). Surveyors will discontinue the use of Tag F324 when surveying for compliance in the area of Accidents and Supervision.

Nursing home surveyors will begin implementing the changes on August 6, 2007.

This link will also provide you to a copy of training materials. We plan to use that material to provide surveyor training in the implementation of the revisions to the investigative protocols and determination of compliance.
