PROVIDER ONE
Dear Nursing Facility/Home Administrator:
The Department of Social and Health Services (department) is in the process of replacing our current Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) and the Social Services Payment System (SSPS) into one modern, more efficient payment system named ProviderOne.
The department’s goal is to transition into the ProviderOne payment system in a way that will not interrupt payments to providers. In order to accomplish this goal, several steps will need to be taken as we move toward implementation of ProviderOne. Currently, there are some tasks that you need to complete so that the department can progress toward its goal. These tasks are:
- Identify a contact person at your facility who can act as liaison during the planning and implementation phase of ProviderOne, and send the name, telephone number and e-mail address of that person to Bonnie Hawkins via mail or e-mail by March 23, 2007.
- Identify a technical contact person at your facility who can be a contact regarding technical issues during the planning and implementation phase of ProviderOne, and send the name, telephone number and e-mail address of the person to Bonnie Hawkins via mail or e-mail by March 23, 2007.
- Obtain a facility specific National Provider Identifier (NPI) number from CMS if you have not already done so. The federal deadline is May 23, 2007, but please get your number now so that you will be ready by April for the next task.
- Be prepared to report and map your NPI to your vendor number and prior vendor numbers. This process will begin in April 2007. Instructions will be forthcoming.
The NPI number is very important. It is required for both Washington State Medicaid and Medicare payments. Thanks to those facilities that have already gotten their NPI. The department appreciates every effort you put forth to help make this transition as smooth as possible. Bonnie’s e-mail address is hawkibm@dshs.wa.gov. She will be in regular communication with the person identified as the contact person until ProviderOne is implemented for nursing homes.
If you have any questions please call Bonnie Hawkins at (360) 725-2512.
Sincerely,
Ken Callaghan, Chief
Office of Rates Management
