REVISED BOARDING HOME APPLICATIONS

Dear Boarding Home Provider:

During the summer and fall of 2003, Residential Care Services (RCS) convened a workgroup focused on revising, updating, and streamlining the application process for an initial boarding home license. Workgroup membership included representatives from the boarding home associations, and several individuals who have been past customers of the application process. I'd like to thank all participants for their time and effort that resulted in the current application process and materials.

A number of changes to the boarding home application process became effective January 5, 2004. Based largely on recommendations from the workgroup, the following changes were implemented:

As part of our continuing effort to improve customer service and to decrease the amount of time required for application processing, effective January 5, 2004, RCS will also return incomplete license applications to the applicant. By returning incomplete applications, the applicant will have timely and written detailed information about what is required for continued processing.

For your convenience, all of the revised boarding home license application materials will be placed on the ADSA website by January 30, 2004. You may access these materials by going online to http://www.aasa.dshs.wa.gov/professional/bh.htm and selecting the bullet that reads "Revised BH Applications".

Sincerely,

Patricia K. Lashway, Director
Residential Care Services
