SUBJECT: Comments on Draft Skin Observation
Protocols
DEADLINE: NOVEMBER
16, 2001
As our clients have become
more frail and vulnerable, there have been situations where skin problems have
led to serious outcomes. This
highlights the importance of providing very high quality assessment and service
planning to meet the client’s needs related to skin care.
A workgroup comprised of
members from Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), Home and Community Services
Division of Aging and Disability Services (HCS/AASA), Division of Developmental
Disabilities (DDD), and the Attorney Generals Office (AGO) has been meeting
since January 2001 to develop Skin Observation Protocols. You will find a draft of these protocols
enclosed with this Management Bulletin.
You are invited to send
written comments to AASA. All
comments are due by November 16 2001.
After we receive the
written comments, the protocols will be finalized and distributed. AASA staff will then visit AAA and HCS
offices around the state to discuss implementation. A significant component of the implementation will be staff
training.
We appreciate your
involvement as we work through this challenging and necessary project.
