SUBJECT: CHORE SERVICES PROGRAM FREEZE

---IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED---

Effective upon receipt of this notice, access to the CHORE program is frozen, except for the addition of APS clients. This is because there was no budget appropriation for new additions to the CHORE program.

For new applicants for personal care services:

• Authorize eligibility for MPC or COPES as appropriate.
• Do not authorize CHORE Services.
• Refer those who are ineligible for MPC and COPES to available community resources, such as, Senior I & A and Volunteer Chore.

For clients on CHORE waiting lists:

• First complete the attached letter and mail to each applicant on the waiting list.
• Then eliminate the waiting list and related waiting list practices.

For clients on CHORE Services:

• Continue authorizing CHORE for current eligible recipients.
• Do annual reassessments, and increase or decrease hours as required.
• Do not reauthorize CHORE once a client has been terminated due to a break in service.
