SUBJECT: CLARIFICATION: COPES PERSONAL
CARE – INDIVIDUAL MONTHLY SSPS CODE 5254
The COPES Personal Care – Individual Monthly SSPS Code 5254 was auto-generated using 185 hours as the base for calculation rather than the base of 184 hours previously used to determine the monthly rate. The maximum monthly rate effective July 1, 2001 is $1420.80. Although this change was made due to an interpretation error in reading the SSPS data sheet for code 5254, this should not be viewed as a change in policy.
The monthly SSPS code 5254 is used under the following circumstances:
1) The client has an individual provider; and
2) The service plan requires 185 hours or more of service per month.
