Re:? New HCFA TransmittalsDear Nursing Home Administrator:
HCFA has made changes and revisions to portions of the State Operation Manual (SOM) related to the long term care survey process, the interpretive guidelines to surveyors, and the MDS over the past several months.
In an effort to assure that you have the information that is needed related to the regulatory requirements for resident care, we are providing one copy of each of the documents/revisions.
Enclosed please find the following:
- Transmittal 15?This includes some revisions to survey forms, provider instructions, a change to survey procedures related to sample selection and revisions to the guidance to surveyors for F329 and F430.
- Transmittal 19?Appendix Q? Guidelines for Determining Immediate Jeopardy.? This is? the first time that this document has been put in the SOM.? Previously it was available to primarily to surveyors.
- Transmittal 20?This includes revisions to the guidance to surveyors for ?F221, F222, F223, F280 and F323.
- Transmittal 22?Appendix R.? This contains the guidelines for completing the RAI/MDS, RAPs, Automation, Electronic Transmission and the Error Correction guidelines.? This document has been collated to include the applicable portions of transmittals 272, 275 and 8.
- Fourteen? pages of revision to the guidance to surveyors for F276, F278, F286 and F287.? These changes were included in the Transmittal 22 release, but relate to the long term care regulations found in Appendix PP.
