Final Amendments to WAC 388-78A-2020
Dear Boarding Home Provider:
In a letter dated May 23, 2006, Residential Care Services (RCS) informed you of proposed amendments to the definitions of “adult day services” and “nonresident individual” found in Washington Administrative Code 388-78A-2020 Definitions.
RCS has adopted the amended definitions, as proposed. The amendments were filed with the Office of the Code Reviser on June 13, 2006 as Washington State Register (WSR) 06-13-028 and will become effective on July 14, 2006.
The newly adopted definitions are: (Text deleted/removed indicated by strikethrough; new text underlined.)
- "Adult day services" means care and services provided to a nonresident individual((
s)) by the boarding home on the boarding home premises, for a period of ((less than twenty‑four)) time not to exceed ten continuous hours, and does not involve an overnight stay.
- "Nonresident individual" means an individual who resides in independent senior housing, independent living units in continuing care retirement communities, or in other similar living environments or in a boarding home and may receive one or more of the services listed in WAC 388‑78A‑2030 (2)(a) through (g)((
, but)). A nonresident individual may not receive domiciliary care as defined in this section, directly or indirectly by the ((facility)) boarding home, and may not receive the items or services listed under general responsibility for the safety and well‑being of the resident as defined in this section, except during the time the person is receiving adult day services as defined in this section.
