Survey of Washington State Adult Family Homes:?
Provider Perspectives of the Licensing Inspection Process

Dear Adult Family Home Provider:

I am pleased to share with you the enclosed Executive Summary of the report ?Survey of Washington State Adult Family Homes:? Provider Perspectives of the Licensing Inspection Process.?? This report summarizes data collected in the September 2000 survey of licensed adult family homes.? Adult family home providers voluntarily completed the survey after their facility re-inspection was conducted.? We received an unusually high response rate of nearly half of all licensed adult family homes.

The survey revealed that the majority of the adult family home providers are satisfied with the re-inspection process.? Although most of the survey findings were positive, there are areas needing improvement.? Residential Care Services staff will use the survey findings and comments to make improvements in the adult family home re-inspection process.

If you have any questions about the survey findings, sampling or report, please call Robert Stroh at (360) 725-2588.? If you would like to read the full report, you may access it via the Internet at www.aasa.dshs.wa.gov, or call our reception office at 1-800-422-3263 to receive a hard copy.

Thank you to all providers ad staff who participated in this important survey.

Sincerely,

Patricia K. Lashway, Director
Residential Care Services
